Stumps Village Market in the Village of Rancho Santa Fe is now carrying “Liquid Gold”, a newly discovered nut oil from Morocco. Argan oil is known as a nutritious, abundantly rich in essential fatty acids and delectable gourmet oil introduced to the U.S. market first by five star chefs. However, argan oil is much more than a healthy culinary treat — it is an ancient natural beauty serum that helps skin to remain firm and hydrated.

Argan oil is a 100% pure and healthy oil with conscience. Destiny Boutique’s cosmetic argan contains no harmful chemicals, fillers or synthetic additives. By purchasing the oil from the partnering 22 women co-ops provides a means for rural families to remain on their land in Arganeraie and an opportunity to provide paid work for women who otherwise would not have a chance to make a living. Destiny Boutique’s argan oil comes from UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve in Morocco’s Southwest. Buying oil from UNESCO protected area secures preserving argan forests in addition of preventing future desertification.

Indigenous Berber women of the semi-arid Arganeraie, the only place in the world where the rare argan tree grows, have been using pure argan oil in skin care for centuries. Argan oil protects their skin and hair from the elements of their harsh North African climate.

Due to its beneficial characteristics, argan oil is now a popular ingredient in European anti-aging cosmetics. Destiny Boutique is one of the first U.S. companies and the very first in North County to incorporate argan oil in their entire product line from cold processed soaps to serums. Destiny Boutique’s cosmetic certified organic oil is available in 2 oz. amber bottles. The packaging is reflective of the down the earth nature of the product. The label paper on the packaging is easily removable and sprouts wildflowers when planted, which is another Destiny Boutique first, and speaks for their commitment to giving back, as well as their commitment to the environment. Only a few drops of the oil are needed to deeply moisturize and soften the epidermis for a revitalizing luxurious feel without leaving an oily residue.

Argan oil naturally improves the elasticity of the skin and the strategically added essential oils will further enhance the skincare. Destiny Boutique’s argan oil has a selection of anti-wrinkle, patchouli-vanilla, sandalwood-vetiver and lavender blends. The anti-wrinkle blend is a spicy blend of carrot seed, fennel, frankincense, myrrh, anise and other essential oils reputed to stimulate cell renewal, increase elasticity, and rejuvenate dry or mature skin. Patchouli-Vanilla blend has an earthy and sensual touch with skin repairing patchouli and rich vanilla to create an irresistible scent with an euphoric comforting effect. Sandalwood-Vetiver blend consists of therapeutic grade sandalwood and vetiver essential oils effective for conditioning the skin to leave it moisturized as well as protected from harmful ultraviolet rays of sun. Lavender is a simple blend of therapeutic grade Bulgarian lavender designed to reduces tension as stress can be a contributor for the appearance of wrinkles.

The Destiny Boutique argan line found in Stumps Village Market is suitable for the entire family skin care although unisex Patchouli-Vanilla and Sandalwood-Vetiver blends are especially recommended soothing after shave moisturizers. The oil collection receive the perfect score of zero (no hazard) from Skin Deep database.

Tuula Hukkanen, CEO of Destiny Boutique is an everyday user of argan oil. “I read extensively about argan oil”, Tuula says, “how argan oil helps to prevent the occurrence of wrinkles and stretch marks, soothes many skin irritations and reduces scars. Even applied to hair and scalp, argan oil nourishes stressed hair and provides a lasting natural shine. Being a skeptic, I had a hard time believing that a daily application of facial oil could actually diminish the appearance of wrinkles. ” Tuula, 43 says she is a “believer” now after using argan oil completely has removed wrinkles under her eyes. Destiny Boutique receives weekly emails from satisfied customers who have used argan oil and noticed a significant difference. Internet customer Cindy from New Jersey writes in 7/31 in her email to Destiny Boutique: “The Argan oil is terrific for minimizing lines and softening rough spots on my skin. I have alot of sun damage, because I love the sun and a summer tan. This helps to minimize the damage I have done.”

The other products that contain certified organic argan oil at Stumps Village Market are Destiny Boutique’s 8 oz. Charcoal Detox Facial Wash ($12.50) and 4 oz. Raw and Unrefined Shea Butter with Argan Oil ($15).

The secret of argan oil lies in its unique composition: argan oil contains more Vitamin E in the form of highly active gamma-tocopherol than any other oil — anti-oxidants that fight and neutralize free radicals, the main cause of cell damage and aging. Furthermore, argan oil is rich in anti-inflammatory phytosterols.

Destiny Boutique’s cosmetic argan oil is all natural and of the highest quality. It is pure, cold-pressed, enhanced by therapeutic grade pesticide free essential oils and does not contain any additives, fragrances or preservatives. Destiny Boutique’s argan oil is certified USDA organic, and suitable for all types of skin and hair. Destiny Boutique’s cosmetic argan oil is produced by the U.C.F.A. (Union des Cooperatives des Femmes de l’Arganeraie), a group of 22 Berber women cooperatives in the Arganeraie, a UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve in Morocco’s Southwest. The product is available in a 2 fl oz. amber glass bottle. The suggested retail price is $29.

Destiny Boutique is an emerging skincare manufacturer, wholesaler and Internet retailer creating products with proprietary formulations using traditional and contemporary methods with an emphasis on all natural ingredients and botanical therapy. Destiny Boutique’s clients are people from all walks of life who prefer natural wholesome body care products to synthetic mass marketed products.

New York City laser resurfacing has taken a giant leap forward with the introduction of Affirm CO2. The innovative laser workstation is the latest anti-aging secret to take the skin rejuvenation scene by storm.

The Affirm CO2 ablative workstation was developed by Cynosure Inc., the developer and manufacturer of a line of light-based aesthetic treatment systems used in wrinkle reduction procedures and skin rejuvenation treatment. According to New York City skin care expert Dr. Bruce Katz, founder and medical director of JUVA Skin & Laser Center, the technology emerges as the best treatment for upper lip wrinkles and deep under eye wrinkles for patients who want a balance between dramatic results and quick recovery.

“The Affirm CO2 laser is the newest fractional laser technology that has been shown to be the most effective in treating wrinkles, sun damage, pigment changes and acne scarring with minimal downtime and side effects,” explained JUVA Skin director Dr. Bruce Katz. “It can be used on the face, neck, chest and other areas of the body and is a major advance in skin rejuvenation.”

Dr. Katz, a well-known figure in New York City skin care circles, praised the flexibility of the Affirm CO2, which performs light to aggressive treatment with a single laser: “It’s important to note that this system also offers scanning options, which allow for variable treatment times and uniform coverage of the surface undergoing treatment.”

The technology uses an ablative approach to target the skin’s epidermal and dermal layers to treat dyschromia, deep wrinkles, acne scarring and significant photo-aging. Affirm CO2 also integrates a carbon dioxide laser with Micro Ablative scanning technology for the most versatile and effective wrinkle correction currently available today.

Patients interested in Affirm CO2 should consult with their regular physicians as well as a skin care expert for wrinkle reduction advice and guidance on the best wrinkle treatments for their skin types and lifestyles. For more information about Affirm CO2 and other New York City laser resurfacing services and anti-aging information, visit the JUVA Skin & Laser Center online at Juvaskin.com.

After what seems like a flash, summer is nearly over. How can you make the feeling last? Keep your color! Le Jardin Day Spa and Salon (www.spalejardin.com), the most award-winning and credentialed spa in the Philadelphia-area, today announced tips for maintaining your summer color. Le Jardin voted a Top Day Spa in Montgomery County, PA five years in a row suggests ten things you can do today to keep summer hair, skin and nails healthy and youthful deep into fall.

1. Let Skin Breathe: Try to avoid using products with heavy filters and pore-clogging ingredients during the harsh days of summer. Mineral makeup allows skin to breathe on humid days. It acts as a chemical-free sun block, naturally shielding the skin against damaging UV light.

2. Bronze on the Sun: A light bronzer helps to extend your tan and maintain a healthy glow well into the chilly days of fall.

3. Re-direct Imperfection: Light diffusing make up deflects light away from the fine lines and wrinkles created by the unkind rays of the summer sun, or after cosmetic surgery, chemical peels, laser treatments, or for individuals who suffer from rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation and other skin conditions. Avielle, Le Jardin’s exclusive new line, offers a full range of light diffusing cosmetics.

4. Add Some Pop: Add some color to your toe and finger nails. A pop of summer color will make your skin look fresh and young. Deep reds, pinks and plums are great transition colors… they can take you from summer to fall seamlessly.

5. Don’t Underestimate a Top Coat: Le Jardin’s expert nail technicians recommend polishing your toes with a top coat of clear enamel before you head out to the beach on Labor Day weekend. This added layer of polish will protect your pedicure from the abrasive nature of sand and keep your color steadfast in to September.

6. SPF for Your Hair: Protect hair color with shampoo and conditioner that contains UV sunscreen, such as L’Oreal Sublime. It protects hair from harmful rays, moisturizes and resists fadeout to keep color looking vibrant way in to fall. Ask your stylist for a list of products that contain an SPF.

7. Condition All Day: Le Jardin suggests that you generously apply a leave-in conditioner, such as Icon-Sultry, to damp hair immediately after swimming or while sun-bathing to extend your color, and to prevent split ends.

8. Sunless Tanning: All self-tanners are not created equal. Regardless of how you feel about the sun… summer means we bare more skin. Along with the Good Housekeeping Institute, Le Jardin recommends using Fake Bake Self Tanning Crème.

9. Can’t Bear the Heat: Avoid using very hot water when showering or washing your hair. Warm water always works best to dissolve soap and shampoo; hot water can actually make your hair limp and dry out your skin. In fact, try rinsing your hair with cool water when you’re finished with your shower, it locks in a great shine and helps you maintain skin moisture.

10. Wrap-Up Summer Skin: The benefits from massages and body wraps, from Hot Stone to Sea Salt and Seaweed Glows, are endless and can keep you feeling like it is summer all year long. Massage and body wraps can reduce water retention, the appearance of cellulite, tension and muscle pain, as well as increase oxygen and blood flow throughout the body - keeping you feeling fresh, healthy, toned and invigorated throughout the year.

Le Jardin offers these tips, as well as free beauty consultations and complimentary health seminars to guests seeking wellness advice, products or services. Avielle, the spa’s premiere line of exclusive mineral cosmetics, completes Le Jardin’s wellness package.

Le Jardin strives, seven days a week, to provide the local community with a relaxing and elegant environment from which to receive the highest quality aesthetic services available. They have accomplished this by choosing exceptionally talented, certified professionals to perform state-of-the-art treatments which unify the body, mind and spirit. By creating harmony of these three elements, their customers live happier and healthier lives. With years of experience and continuing education, Le Jardin’s dedicated staff is ready to serve the community and all of its needs–from a variety of massages, skincare, nail services, dynamic hair design as well as enhancements of facial features with the latest in cosmetics, and tips and trends for each season from their qualified beauty experts.

Back-to-school can be a stressful time for teens, especially if they have an acne problem. This doesn’t just apply to girls - in the new OXY® Acne Report (a national survey of teens and moms conducted by Harris Interactive for the OXY® line of acne care products) 22 percent of teen boys reported that acne breakouts lower their self-confidence. What differs is the way they deal with it.

When you squeeze a pimple, you can trigger more inflammation and increase the risk of scarring
“While it may seem that teenage boys don’t care as much about how they look or what their skin is like, acne can actually have a lot of the same psychological and social effects on boys as it does on girls,” says dermatologist, David Bank, M.D., director of The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery, in Mount Kisco, New York. “Talking about your teen daughter’s acne is very main-stream and young girls have tons of magazines and beauty Web sites offering tips and options. There are less of these resources for boys and, ultimately, it is just harder for boys to ask for help.”

Dr. Bank offers tips to help parents talk with their sons about how to help treat and prevent acne breakouts:

* Clean Up the “Blame” Act: According to the OXY® Acne Report moms of teen boys are more than twice as likely as moms of teen girls to blame breakouts on poor hygiene. “This not only is incorrect, but will create a wall between you since he’s being ‘blamed’ for his acne,” adds Dr. Bank. “Acne comes from one main factor - hormones - which are ultimately out of their control, and, in fact, worse in boys than girls since it is the male sex hormones, or androgens, that play the biggest role in breakouts.”
* Tune In: “Basically, even if he seems annoyed with you, your son could use your help because he may not know where to start, and most of the skincare products are directed to women,” says Dr. Bank. “Deliver your advice tactfully and offer a solution by talking about products specially formulated for teen guys, like the OXY products which have fragrances and even packaging designed to appeal to males.”
* Be Realistic: Don’t attempt to get your son to start a complicated skincare regimen. One out of every four boys indicated they only wash their face when they are in the shower, according to the OXY® Acne Report, so Dr. Bank recommends buying your son products that fit his routine. The new OXY® Bar Soap or OXY® Body Wash can be used right in the shower. The effects also last beyond the shower, with the new bar soap fighting acne 300 percent longer than other leading acne washes, and both can be used on the body and face.
* Hands Off!: According to the OXY® Acne report, 20 percent of moms admitted that they actually “picked or popped their son’s pimples.” Popping a pimple doesn’t help. “When you squeeze a pimple, you can trigger more inflammation and increase the risk of scarring,” explains Dr. Bank.
* Expect a Change Eventually: All acne medications are designed to prevent future outbreaks, not to automatically make a current one disappear. “I know adolescents expect immediate magic, but they need to have realistic expectations in order to keep them on the continued path of daily skincare to control their breakouts in an ongoing way,” says Dr. Bank. “If they keep switching products or give up too soon, it will be difficult to see the results they were hoping for.
* See a Dermatologist: If your son isn’t willing to listen to your suggestions for dealing with his acne breakouts, offer a visit to his pediatrician or a dermatologist. . “I have seen marked changes in confidence and personality after helping teen boys deal with acne by just talking about it,” explains Dr. Bank.

Now through September 30, 2008, each parent who visits http://www.oxymom.com, a Web site offering information and tips for dealing with a teen boys’ acne, can now sign up for the free $100,000 OXY® “Cash for College” Sweepstakes. One lucky parent will win a grand prize of $25,000 as a contribution to a 529B College Savings Plan, five first place winners will each receive $10,000 as a contribution to a 529B College Savings Plan, and five second place winners will each receive $5,000, for a total of $100,000 in scholarships. The $100,000 OXY® “Cash for College” Sweepstakes is open to U.S. legal residents with a son between the ages of thirteen and nineteen. Visit www.oxymom.com for official rules and entry form.

OXY® has been a trusted name in acne treatment for more than 25 years. The OXY® line of acne products are available nationwide at major retailers, including mass market stores, pharmacy chains and independent drug stores.

*Survey Methodology
Harris Interactive® fielded the four-question teen study from March 15 to March 21, 2007, via its YouthQuerySM, online omnibus service. The sample consisted of a nationwide sample of 793 U.S. teens ages 12 to 18 years old.

Permanent Cosmetic Industry Expert Jaudon Sunde has been invited to serve on the National Advisory Board for the Alliance for Safe Practice that will oversee the State of Ohio.

Based in Arlington, Texas, the Alliance for Safe Practice (http://www.safepractice.us) mission is to advance safe practice in the permanent makeup industry and to be a source for accurate reporting for permanent makeup professionals; their 2008 initiative is to work with state government regulators to establish sound regulations and legitimate industry protocols for certification processes and apprenticeship programs in each state. The Alliance for Safe Practice aims to impact the permanent makeup profession in a profound way by shaping the regulations that govern permanent cosmetics in their state.

It is imperative more now than ever because of the demand that we raise standards in our field to avoid some of substandard work performed by inexperienced technicians
“It is imperative more now than ever because of the demand that we raise standards in our field to avoid some of substandard work performed by inexperienced technicians,” says Sunde.

The Alliance for Safe Practice seeks to work with those physicians and practitioners who are most qualified and committed to integrity and procedure excellence in the permanent makeup profession. “Jaudon Sunde was chosen to represent the Alliance in the state of Ohio because of her tireless efforts to raise training and certification standards and because of her skills and expertise in the permanent cosmetic industry,” said Sandi Hammons, ASP president (http://www.sandihammons.com).

Hammons commends Sunde for her commitment to ethics, integrity and personal service. “I have known Jaudon Sunde for several years,” Hammons added. “She is not only personally committed to ongoing education, she is very skilled in her field, and her principled directives and commitment to public service is very honorable.”

Jaudon’s business caters to people with medical conditions who can no longer apply cosmetics or who have lost eyebrows and eyelashes and facial definition to cancer treatments.

Sunde is certified as a Master Instructor-Trainer by the American Institute of Interdermal Cosmetics and was selected as a Speaker at the 2007 International Intradermal Cosmetic Expo (IICE) in Dallas, Texas. Her precision work and motivational efforts have been featured on national programs such as Inside Edition and numerous local television news reports around the country. A former model and national makeup consultant, Sunde has worked with some of the foremost companies in the world including Chanel, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Jaudon also held the position as National Seminar Director for Christi Harris Co, a National Cosmetics company in Dallas, Texas.

Jaudon also had the privilege of working under the guidance and supervision of several of the worlds most renowned Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Ramsey J Choucair and Dr. Sam Hamra of Dallas, Texas as well as Dr. Michael H. Wojtanowski and Dermatologist, Dr. Lydia Parker, both of Cleveland.

Sunde has a thriving Permanent Makeup Practice in Strongsville, Ohio and is also the creator and owner of the popular Permanent Cosmetic Web site My Wake Up To Makeup.com link to www.mywakeuptomakeup.com.

For years, regulatory agencies, permanent cosmetic practitioners, physicians and consumers have been searching for a method to identify skilled practitioners who adhere to safe practice guidelines and exhibit a high level of ethics, competency and artistic expression. Today, the standards in which we practice cosmetic tattoo procedures have improved. However, existing programs fall short of protecting consumers and they do little to identify and support permanent cosmetic practitioners worthy of professional and advanced credentialing.

Health departments are now calling for longer term training programs. Regulators recognize the need for public protection, education and long term, ongoing support and education for practitioners. The Alliance for Safe Practice will also be developing a national advertising campaign to raise public awareness of the Alliance and our credentialing process. California, Tennessee, Colorado and Ohio will be the first states that are targeted in the initial efforts for legislative action.

SensiClear Acne Treatment System treats blemishes gently and effectively without irritating sensitive skin and that is excellent news for those who have adult acne, according to Charles Benard, Chief Marketing Officer for Mission Scientific.

“People with adult acne often have sensitive skin and the last thing they want is to make a skin problem appear worse because it has reacted to an ingredient such as benzoyl peroxide, which can cause drying, flaking and skin irritation,” Benard added.

In explaining the differences between teen and adult acne Raphael Darvish, M.D., a Brentwood, CA dermatologist said that teen acne is generally a result of hormones involved with puberty. “Adult acne is much more multifactorial. Stress often can flare adult acne, as can certain foods such as dairy and coffee. Certain medical conditions can also be involved with adult acne such as polycystic ovaries.”

“SensiClear is an excellent option as it incorporates a salicylic acid system that is gentle on the skin and aggressive on the acne,” said Dr. Darvish. “It is not like other skin care systems in which your skin gets better initially and then just goes back to the same acne. The results last since the skin doesn’t build a resistance to the active ingredients in SensiClear.”

Independent tests show that the SensiClear Acne Treatment System works faster within 72 hours compared with the leading benzoyl peroxide brand. It is over 200% more effective in eliminating ugly blackheads. It also worked faster and was 62% more effective in reducing large pimples during the first three critical days of acne care. SensiClear is over 60% more effective in overall reduction of total acne blemishes.

Anyone coping with acne blemishes wants them to go away quickly and adults are no exception. According to Dr. Darvish the mental stress of having adult acne is quite significant relative to teen acne. Adult acne can be very annoying and embarrassing since generally we don’t expect adults to have acne, while teens are expected to have acne and many of their friends generally have acne as well.

“This is the most advanced acne skincare treatment that can be purchased without a prescription,” said Benard. “SensiClear is the only acne treatment system with the exclusive patent pending ingredient Retextra, giving it the ability to immediately penetrate and unclog pores, while smoothing and softening the skin’s surface.”

Since the acquistion of the brand by EMAP Communications, changes to the exhibition in the South are now being carried on to the Northern Event, with the specific goal of facilitating the ability to do serious business. In the past Professional Beauty North has always attracted the newest members of the beauty community in the form of newly enrolled students. From 2008 the same student entry policy that was introduced at South will also be applicable to North. This begins with no entry for NVQ Level One (or equivalent) students to Professional Beauty North. As a trade-only event, attendance is now open ONLY to NVQ Levels Two and Three or equivalent. Pre-registration prior to attending the event and student uniforms will also be mandatory at Professional Beauty North 2008.

This year’s show will see a major presence by the biggest brand names associated with the professional beauty and spa industry. No longer will the beauty industry as a whole appear London-centric. Professional Beauty North is bringing the very best skincare, spa, tanning, equipment and nailcare from the UK and Europe to the top professional beauty event in the North of England. Professional Beauty North is the Autumn launch pad for many of the brands who have until now only exhibited in London and who will showcase for the first time this October. These include: Cosmeceuticals, Diva Deva, New ID cosmetics and many more.

The team behind the re-vamped Professional Beauty North is changing the emphasis all over the show. This year there will be major new features to benefit the serious senior buyer as well as a dedicated PR and advertising campaign across Europe and beyond to reach beauty professionals and buyers worldwide.

For 2008, Professional Beauty North visitors will see custom-designed VIP entrance and visitor areas, improved crowd management measures with new fast-track student access to the exhibition halls, designed to reduce overcrowding, plus new catering areas throughout the Show.

To get the most of your day, Professional Beauty North will introduce a new personalised online tool to plan visit. Find out more at www.professionalbeauty.co.uk/north. Once at the show, visitors will benefit hugely from new improved show wayfinding systems to aid visitors in locating their way to the exhibitors and features they want to see.

Entry to Professional Beauty North 2008 is free for those visitors who register in advance. For more information call 01923 690636 or pre-register online at www.professionalbeauty.co.uk/north.

Obagi Medical Products, Inc., a leader in topical aesthetic and therapeutic skin health systems, today announced that it has launched its first-ever national consumer awareness campaign for the Obagi® Condition & Enhance System. The campaign was developed to educate consumers about the benefits of the skin care system, which was designed specifically to complement facial procedures and optimize overall aesthetic results. In addition, the campaign highlights the importance of partnering with a skincare professional to create an optimal treatment plan.

“We recognize the importance of consumer awareness and education in helping patients achieve their desired overall facial aesthetic results,” said Steve Carlson, Chief Executive Officer of Obagi Medical Products. “This is an important step in further partnering with our physicians to share the excitement and success of current Obagi users with millions of other consumers looking for a results-driven approach to aesthetic management.”

The campaign will feature print advertisements in national magazines, including Allure and O, The Oprah Magazine, as well as online banner ads on select Web sites, such as Yahoo! and iVillage. The campaign goal is to reach approximately 26 million aesthetically aware women, between the ages of 25 and 55.

As a part of the new awareness campaign, Obagi Medical Products is launching a new Condition & Enhance Web site that encourages consumers to partner with a physician or skincare specialist to improve the overall health of their skin. In addition, the Web site contains valuable information on the Obagi Condition & Enhance System, and includes the following interactive features:

* A Physician Locator which enables consumers to find a skin care professional in their area, who carries the Obagi Medical Products lines;
* “Face File,” a unique tool that allows consumers to create and personalize a profile that stores procedures they have already received or are interested in, and provides a checklist of topics to discuss with their physician or skincare specialist;
* “Refill Reminders” that allow consumers to sign up for an e-mail or phone text notification when it is time to re-fill the products in their Obagi Condition & Enhance System;
* Information on common non-surgical procedures and how the Obagi Condition & Enhance System works to complement them.

The Web site, www.ConditionAndEnhance.com, was launched at last week’s American Academy of Dermatology Summer Meeting in Chicago.

“At Obagi, we strive to empower patients to take charge of their skin care by partnering with their physician or skincare specialist,” said Rick Kozloski, Vice President of Marketing and Dermatology at Obagi Medical Products. “The Obagi Condition & Enhance System is a great complement for any facial procedure, and this campaign will further educate consumers seeking to improve their overall aesthetic appearance and learn about the many benefits of this system.”

For more information, visit www.ConditionAndEnhance.com or www.obagi.com.

About the Condition & Enhance System

The 4% hydroquinone-based skin care program, known commercially as the Obagi® Condition & Enhance System, helps correct premature photoaged skin and prevent future skin damage. The system is comprised of products that work together to improve overall skin health and appearance. The Condition & Enhance System, which utilizes Obagi’s Penetrating Therapeutics™, includes cleanser, toner, 4% hydroquinone, exfoliant, and sunscreen SPF 35 for complete skin care.

The order and frequency of application of products in the Condition & Enhance System are carefully defined and managed by the physician to create a four-step process for improving and restoring overall skin quality. The first step is skin preparation, the second step is skin correction, the third step is skin stimulation, and the fourth step is skin protection.

iinnLight Technologies, the emerging leader in optimizing light to transform and energize lives, today launched iinnLight Pro™, its debut product for the spa industry that enables spas and wellness centers to powerfully contribute to the wellness revolution by delivering the world’s first Molecular Massage™ while providing a new therapy option to increase profits. iinnLight Pro is a patented therapeutic delivery system that uniquely uses non-invasive light energy to deliver an energizing, stress relieving and skin rejuvenating experience during a 30-minute session.

“The iinnLight Pro marks a major milestone in the spa industry,” said Kathleen Buchanan, chief executive officer, iinnLight Technologies. “We’re taking a proven technology, LED light therapy, and packaging it in a one-of-a-kind delivery system exclusively for spas to help them respond to the skyrocketing demand for new, non-invasive wellness treatments.”

iinnLight Pro light therapy sessions or Molecular Massages can be packaged with other services such as massages and facials, or offered as a stand-alone service. This gives spas a natural pathway into the $1 trillion wellness market and the opportunity to offer their clients a unique, safe and non-invasive wellness and anti-aging solution with no increase in labor. In addition to feeling revitalized, spa guests who experience iinnLight’s Molecular Massage report seeing a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

“The iinnLight Molecular Massage provides an added healing therapy for my patients,” said Dr. Jolanta Lukawski, internal medicine. “In my wellness practice, the goal is to be healthy, feel good and look good, and the non-invasive healing benefits of iinnLight therapy are a successful part of a holistic program. My patients experience benefits in their general sense of wellbeing, smoother skin and reduction of inflammation.”

How it Works

iinnLight Pro emanates three specific wavelengths of modulated light during each 30-minute session. The light, typically applied directly over the face, is absorbed into the body’s tissue then translated into energy which stimulates cellular growth, repair and regeneration of the body. iinnLight Pro specifically stimulates the immune system to promote the most natural form of healthy aging.

No larger than a standard floor lamp, the mobile delivery system enables spa employees to easily maneuver iinnLight Pro to accommodate treatments in different rooms. iinnLight Pro does not require a licensed technician to operate; the employee simply presses a button to start the light therapy and it automatically turns off after 30 minutes. The aesthetician is free to provide spa services to another guest while the Molecular Massage is in process, thereby increasing productivity and revenue for spa owners without increasing labor and training costs.

Pricing and Availability

iinnLight Pro is currently available for sale to destination and resort spas, day spas, and hotels that are focused on providing the latest wellness and anti-aging solutions for their guests. Priced at US $17,500 per iinnLight Pro system, early owners of the iinnLight Pro have achieved payback within four months of purchase. Contact iinnLight Technologies for sales and trial offer information at 949-340-1695.

About iinnLight

iinnLight provides energizing light therapy technology that enables spas to seamlessly increase profits and dramatically capitalize on the wellness revolution with the world’s first Molecular Massage™. iinnLight’s safe and non-invasive light treatments pave the way to the benefits most important to today’s busy individual: stress relief, beauty, restfulness and healthy aging. iinnLight is headquartered in Laguna Beach, Calif.

Nevique(TM), a newly founded skin care company based in Nashua, New Hampshire, is introducing their
revolutionary new Omega 3 skin care technology at the upcoming ECRM/EPPS Skin
and Bath conference in Houston, TX on August 5-8, 2008. The Nevique(TM) skin
care line initially includes six (6) new patent pending lip balm formulas: 1)
Ultra Moisturizer, 2) Daily Conditioner, 3) Medicated Mint, 4) Wind+Weather,
5) Berry Sport, and 6) Nightime Lip Recovery, all which incorporate Omega 3
fish oil for its enhanced healing properties. This will be Nevique(TM) LLC’s
first US product launch exposure of their Omega 3 Lip Balm Line, along with a
“sneak” preview of their upcoming Omega 3 sun-care line, Omega 3 acne
treatment line, Omega 3 anti-aging treatment line, and their Omega 3 body
lotion products scheduled for commercial release beginning 2nd Quarter 2009.
Every Nevique(TM) product has been carefully engineered with pharmaceutical
grade Omega 3 fatty acid (O3FA) complexes derived from North Atlantic fish
oil. These allergen-free, protein-free and heavy-metal-contaminant-free fish
oil formulas have undergone successful customer testing, demonstrating
superior performance for conditions of dry, irritated and inflamed chapped
skin.

In addition, each Nevique lip balm model has been subject to detailed user
market study and consumer opinion follow-up, including interviews and surveys
further guiding each lip balm model’s targeted formulation goals. These
consumer use follow-up tests have ensured that all of the Nevique formulas
meet and/or exceed the expectations of a broad spectrum of the target market
demographics. Nevique’s 100% all natural O3FA blended formulas derived from
fish oil have been tested effective in promoting visibly healthier and softer
skin, in addition to speeding the rate of healing of dry, irritated and
sensitive chapped lips. Nevique(TM) exclusive Omega 3 lip balm formulas have
also demonstrated superior UVA and UVB sunscreen protection and moisture
retention during recreational activities, and outstanding customer
satisfaction on a level never experienced with a non-prescription therapeutic
lip balm product.

The Omega 3 Fatty Acids used in Nevique’s pleasant tasting lip balm
products include high levels of Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) Omega 3 complexes, which are sourced entirely from
distilled pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Both EPA and DHA essential fatty acid
complexes are the only Omega 3 fatty acids known to provide significant skin
care health benefits in a broad spectrum of topical applications, as well as
soft tissue repair. Nevique(TM), with its patent pending technology, is one of
the first known skin care companies worldwide to employ the all natural
healthcare benefits of distilled pharmaceutical grade fish oil in a full range

ModiFace Inc., developer of online makeover applications that employ face-recognition technology, announced today that it is releasing embeddable versions of its popular HairMixer application (realistic hair-style simulation), as well as its LiftMagic application (virtual cosmetic surgery). These applications can be very easily integrated into partnering sites with all maintenance, load, and other operational details handled by ModiFace.

“The new widgets are fully-functional and customizable for the partner site,” remarked Lisa Leung, Director of Operations at ModiFace, Inc. “For example, for the hairstyling widget, website administrators and partner companies can upload and modify their own model hairstyles as often as they wish in order to offer whatever combination of hairstyles they desire.”
The hairstyling widget is based on the popular HairMixer application, which simulates what users would look like with virtually any hairstyle they can find on the web. A user can simply upload a high-quality frontal personal photo and choose the hairstyle that they would most like to have replicated. The application employs its unique face-recognition technology to coordinate the new hairstyle with the face represented in the original photo. The resulting simulation is a realistic representation of the photo’s subject wearing the desired hairstyle.

Additionally, ModiFace’s LiftMagic application, which simulates cosmetic surgery, is available in its widget form, the LiftMagic(TM) Facial Aesthetics Simulator (FAS). Similar to the original LiftMagic application, LiftMagic(TM) FAS allows users to visualize what their faces might look like after a face lift, lip augmentation, nose reshaping, weight reduction, or any combination of the four options. ModiFace has also released a Chinese version of the widget.
“LiftMagic(TM) FAS provides a realistic representation of the customer’s face after cosmetic surgery,” mentioned Leung. “For the Chinese version, we’ve also added an option to simulate eyelid surgery, a popular procedure in China.”
Along with the online widget line, ModiFace has developed a line of kiosks that the company will be placing inside clinics, malls, hair salons, fashion stores and other retail spaces across the U.S. and Canada. The kiosks take the customer’s picture directly, allowing the photo to be processed by any of ModiFace’s face-processing applications, including the widgets.

About ModiFace, Inc.
Founded in 2007 by University of Toronto professor Parham Aarabi, ModiFace Inc. utilizes advanced computer vision and image processing algorithms to visualize different facial operations including plastic surgery, facial aesthetic treatments and hairstyle changes. ModiFace’s patent-pending technologies empower consumers to redefine their images by automatically visualizing face enhancements, treatments and modifications. There are skin irritations, cracked and painful skin, raw bleeding sores, or dry and scaly rashes and age spots.

These ailments can be hard to heal on their own, let alone when they have been worsened by contact with the harsh chemicals found in many popular skin care products.

Bio Skin Revitalizer stimulates the rebuilding of the skin matrix by triggering the proliferation of fibroblasts which are the cells in the basal layer of skin that are responsible for the production of all the structural elements of healthy skin
Fortunately, people with mature, troubled, and sensitive skin now have a better solution within their reach. Andes Natural Skin Care is pleased to announce the launch of a natural product with a powerful antioxidant and skin regenerative ingredient. Made with all-natural ingredients that act in synergy to rebuild damaged skin from within, Bio Skin Revitalizer is not just another skin treatment.
Bio Skin Revitalizer Serum for Treatment of Sensitive Skin offers a host of benefits to the user:

* It repairs damage to skin tissues, especially in the case of photo-damage caused by UV radiation and the consequent release of free radicals
* It dissolves worn out and abnormal tissues and replaces them with healthy skin
* It improves the capacity of the skin to withhold water, creating a moisturizing effect that lasts
* It strengthens fragile skin tissues, helping them to resist the penetration of allergens
* It smooths and reduces abnormal, hypertrophic and keloid scars
* It dissolves keratosis pilaris plugs and psoriasis & actinic keratosis scales

The keystone biological ingredient, Helix Aspersa Müller Glycoconjugates, is a secretion created by and gathered from live snails of that species. After being collected in a humane, non-harmful process, it is stabilized so that hydrolysis of its enzymes, antioxidants and proteins is avoided.

The serum is a powerful antioxidant and its regenerative properties have been validated by scientific research published in the January 2008 issue of the Journal of Pharmacology and Physiology of the Skin, as we announced in a previous press release.

The serum has the capacity to speed the dissolution of damaged cells and tissues, trigger the regeneration of skin structures and strengthen the skin’s mechanical properties. The superior regenerative properties of this biological serum are due to its complex structure, with biochemical capabilities that are superior to any synthetic formulation yet available within the limits of contemporary science.

The other components of the formulation are also natural, including stabilized vitamin C, seaweed extracts, and Hyaluonic Acid. All three are well known for their positive effects on the skin. It is 100% natural, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, and recommended for users of all ages.

“Bio Skin Revitalizer stimulates the rebuilding of the skin matrix by triggering the proliferation of fibroblasts which are the cells in the basal layer of skin that are responsible for the production of all the structural elements of healthy skin,” says its founder and CEO, Humberto del Pozo.

“The product is one hundred percent natural, and the rich biological ingredient is gathered without harming any of the little creatures which supply us their precious serum over and over again. The serum is an original innate immune system support for snails’ skin and other organs of its body, and a renewable resource for human skin revitalizing. We incorporate this powerful ingredient in all the products in our Biocutis skin care line.

While hairstyles come and go, pin-straight hair favored by A-list celebrities and emulated by scores of loyal fans from coast to coast appears to have real staying power. That’s
why the use of flat irons, which are used to straighten hair, has increased
in popularity in recent years. Now, dermatologists warn that some flat
irons can damage hair and cause hair breakage which could put a crimp in
this coveted hairstyle.

At the American Academy of Dermatology’s Summer Academy Meeting 2008 in
Chicago, dermatologist Paradi Mirmirani, MD, FAAD, assistant clinical
professor of dermatology, University of California, San Francisco,
presented evidence that when ceramic flat irons are used improperly or too
frequently, hair breakage can occur.

“The newer flat irons that have a ceramic coating instead of a metal
one are marketed as providing more rapid and uniform heat transmission.
While this allows for quicker straightening of the hair with less damage,
it is really a classic case of buyer beware,” said Dr. Mirmirani. “We’re
seeing that when these ceramic flat irons are used at the highest heat
settings and on a daily basis to achieve straight hair, they can really
take a toll on the structure of the hair and cause very noticeable problems
that can be hard to repair.”

Temporary hair straightening using a flat iron is achieved by applying
heated tongs to the length of the hair. This heat breaks and then reforms
the hydrogen bonds in the inner core of the hair fiber. Dr. Mirmirani noted
that while the goal of straightening is to alter the inner substance of the
hair, the unwanted consequence may be damage to the outer protective
cuticle, causing weathering, damage and eventual hair breakage.

Hair weathering or damage is usually characterized by dry ends or
flyaway hair. However, if breakage occurs, it can happen anywhere along the
length of the hair and cause a shaggy or skimpy appearance to the hair.
When this occurs, flat iron users may use the device even more frequently
to try to tame the broken or uneven appearance of their hair — which can
lead to more damage.

Today, many ceramic flat irons on the market have variable heat
settings with maximum temperatures of up to 410 degrees Fahrenheit (210
degrees Celsius). Prior studies have shown that temperatures of 347 to 419
degrees Fahrenheit (175 to 215 degrees Celsius) for as little as five
minutes are enough to damage most hair. However, Dr. Mirmirani warns this
threshold may be even lower if the heat is applied to damp hair or hair
that has been chemically treated with color or permanents, as she is seeing
patients who fit this scenario more frequently. If women are not willing to
give up their flat irons in the quest for straight hair, Dr. Mirmirani
advised them to take precautions.

“Proper use of flat irons is extremely important, especially given how
quickly hair can be damaged with high heat settings,” said Dr. Mirmirani.
“Flat irons should only be applied to dry hair, and specialized styling
products that act as heat protectors may be applied to the hair prior to
pressing to help prevent burning and allow for smoother hair that remains
straight longer. If there is a temperature setting on the device, it should
be set no higher than 347 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius, or on
the low/medium setting.”

Although how frequently a flat iron should be used depends on an
individual’s hair type, Dr. Mirmirani recommended that these devices should
probably not be used more than two to three times per week. For those who
won’t leave home without the ultra straight look, Dr. Mirmirani
acknowledged that forgoing the daily flat iron routine will take willpower
– but the end result will be healthier, stronger hair that is not as prone
to breakage and will look better in the long run.

Dr. Mirmirani added that for many women and young girls, flat irons are
not the only source of hair damage. “Improper hair care is a common cause
of hair loss, and excessive or improper use of devices, such as flat irons,
is only one piece of the puzzle,” she said. “In fact, many of the styling
products that women routinely use — including hair dyes, perms and
relaxers — can all cause hair breakage. Pairing these products with the
regular use of a flat iron to straighten hair could exacerbate hair
breakage and cause lasting damage if left untreated.”

Treatment of damaged or broken hair includes avoiding any heat or
chemicals, cutting the damaged hair, and minimizing friction to the hair.
Because it does not affect normal hair growth, most hair loss from breakage
is temporary. Once hair is sufficiently damaged, it may take up to two
years to be fully repaired. For successful diagnosis and treatment of hair
damage, including hair loss, see your dermatologist.

For many of us, the health of our
nails is something we often take for granted. That is until something goes
wrong and changes the appearance or texture of the nails. Dermatologists,
who are the physician experts in the care of skin, hair and nails, find
that brittle nails, nail fungus and problems from nail cosmetics are among
the most common sources of nail disorders. Help can be found by seeking
proper diagnosis and starting a proven treatment regimen, which can include
medications and behavioral changes.

At the American Academy of Dermatology’s Summer Academy Meeting 2008 in
Chicago, dermatologist C. Ralph Daniel, MD, FAAD, clinical professor of
dermatology at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Miss., and
clinical associate professor of dermatology at the University of Alabama in
Birmingham, Ala., discussed these common nail complaints and how to
recognize when a problem requires medical intervention.

Brittle Nails

Brittle nails are a common nail problem frequently seen by
dermatologists in their practices. While it is rare for an internal illness
or a drug to cause brittle nails, the primary cause is typically
environmental. Dr. Daniel explained that there are two types of brittle
nails — hard and brittle nails, and soft and brittle nails.

Hard and brittle nails are caused by too little moisture, with older
people more prone to this condition. This type of brittle nails can make
nails feel dry, and chipping or flaking commonly occurs anywhere on the
nail plate. Dry skin also is common in people with brittle nails, and the
condition occurs more frequently in the winter from dry heat used to warm
the indoors and in very dry climates with little humidity, such as Arizona.

At the other end of the spectrum, soft and brittle nails are thought to
be caused by too much moisture and can affect people of any age. However,
soft and brittle nails are more common in young people, particularly those
who wash their hands frequently — including medical professionals and
chefs. While soft and brittle nails don’t feel dry, they tend to layer more
at the end of the nail plate when they chip.

“When we treat brittle nails, we always ask patients if their toenails
are affected as well — and most will say no,” said Dr. Daniel. “This
indicates that if the condition was caused by a lack of something in the
body, such as a vitamin or mineral, it also would cause brittleness in the
toenails. For that reason, dermatologists believe brittle nails are the
result of contact with the environment, particularly work environments due
to contact with water, or low or high humidity.”

Typically, hard and brittle nails are treated by adding moisture to the
nails; whereas patients with soft and brittle nails need to reduce the
amount of moisture that comes in contact with their hands. For example, Dr.
Daniel recommends that people with soft and brittle nails who engage in wet
work should wear light cotton gloves under vinyl gloves to keep moisture
away from the nails. Latex gloves are not preferred, because latex is more
irritating and causes the hands to sweat. In general, he said it is a good
idea for patients with either type of brittle nails to wear gloves and
avoid irritants.

Nail Fungus

Fungal infections, known as onychomycosis, comprise approximately half
of all visits to the dermatologist for nail-related problems. Since the
infection occurs under the nail plate or in the nail bed, it can be
difficult to treat. Fungal infections — which can be white, green, yellow
or black in color — often cause the end of the nail to separate from the
nail bed, and they may build up under the nail plate and discolor the nail
bed. Because the feet are usually confined in a warm, moist environment,
toenails are more susceptible to fungal infections.

“We know that the foot acts as a reservoir for fungus that can spread
elsewhere on body, so it is important for dermatologists to treat the
source of an infection and check the toenails and bottom of the foot when a
fungus is present,” said Dr. Daniel. “Patients who have had trauma to a
nail also are more susceptible to nail fungus, as the trauma can serve as a
pre-disposing event.”

Dr. Daniel added that psoriasis patients are prone to developing nail
fungus. In fact, one study found that the occurrence of nail fungus was 56
percent greater in patients with psoriasis than in non-psoriatic patients.
Men with psoriasis also were two-and-a-half times more likely to have nail
fungus than women with psoriasis. Dermatologists find that while
medications traditionally used to treat nail fungus work for psoriatic
patients affected by this infection, these medications will not improve the
underlying psoriasis.

Nail fungus can be difficult to treat, but most cases improve with the
use of available prescription topical medications. Experimental treatments
for nail fungus include photodynamic therapy (PDT) and new topical
treatments, and studies are currently being done with nanoparticles.

Side Effects of Nail Cosmetics

Nail cosmetics, used to enhance the appearance of nails, also can be a
source of potential problems. Though not common, allergic reactions and
infections from nail cosmetics used at home or at nail salons pose serious
health risks.

For example, Dr. Daniel reported that most of the problems associated
with nail salons are from the use of acrylic glues to hold artificial nails
in place, which can cause pain, redness, itching or scaling. Although the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned the use of methyl acrylics,
there are still instances of these types of nails being used at some salons
despite their known health risks.

In addition, some of the ingredients in nail polishes and polish
removers can cause allergic reactions. Free formaldehyde, which means it is
not bound to another substance, also is banned by the FDA as a nail
hardener because it can cause itching, redness or even blisters. Dr. Daniel
also advised that consumers use nail polish remover with acetates rather
than acetones, which are more drying and irritating.

To decrease the chance of contracting an infection at nail salons, Dr.
Daniel recommended these tips:

– Don’t use the instruments at nail salons — bring your own
instruments with you.

– If you don’t own your own instruments, buy a pack of disposable
instruments at the nail salon that are only intended for one-time use.

– If you must use the reusable instruments at a nail salon, make sure
they are sterilized properly in an autoclave. If not, find another salon.

“To ensure that your nails are strong and healthy, it is important to
take care of them properly and not subject them to harsh environmental
conditions or unnecessary hazards in an attempt to improve their
appearance,” said Dr. Daniel. “Oftentimes, changes in our nails can signal
a serious underlying health problem. In a sense, dermatologists act as
detectives who can diagnose a variety of health problems from clues they
observe in the nails. So, see your dermatologist if you notice any
abnormalities or have any concerns about the health of your nails.”

money than replacing their current laser.

The Pixel CO2 OMNIFIT handpiece fits onto most existing CO2 lasers and
is designed to deliver a high degree of efficacy without the side effects
or significant downtime associated with traditional CO2 resurfacing. By
combining Alma’s proprietary and proven Pixel fractional technology with a
standard CO2 resurfacing laser, the new Pixel CO2 OMNIFIT delivers a
supremely effective treatment for aged, photo-damaged, and acne-scarred
skin with minimal patient redness, irritation or downtime.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the FDA’s clearance of the Pixel
CO2 OMNIFIT handpiece for skin resurfacing as it offers patients an
effective treatment with minimal downtime compared to existing treatments,”
said Howard Kelly, CEO of Alma Lasers. “This latest regulatory milestone
allows us to continue to build on the success we have had with meeting
physicians’ needs for innovative and patient-focused solutions in the
current aesthetic treatment marketplace.”

The Pixel CO2 OMNIFIT handpiece takes ablative patient downtime from 30
days to approximately three, making the procedure as appealing as many
non-invasive approaches available to today’s busy patients.

“I have had outstanding results treating my patients with fractionated
CO2 skin resurfacing, says Dr. Benjamin J. Raab, Assistant Professor of
Clinical Dermatology at Northwestern University Medical School and a Board
Certified Dermatologist. “This will soon become the treatment of choice for
patients seeking significant cosmetic improvements for aging and
photo-damage without complications or prolonged healing time.”

Carboxytherapy, a cosmetic skin rejuvenation method and stretch mark treatment that makes use of carbon dioxide, has arrived in Houston. Dr. Michelle Zaniewski-Singh M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E., C.M.E.S., F.A.S.L.M.S. is the first physician to introduce the technique to Houston residents.

Carboxytherapy is a nonsurgical treatment for body and skin rejuvenation which is very popular in Europe and South America. This technique has a number of applications but Dr. Zaniewski-Singh feels that it is the most effective way to treat stretch marks with no downtime.

The supporting framework of the skin is composed of two proteins, collagen and elastin. Stretch marks are scars in the intermediate layer of the skin, the dermis, caused by disruption of the collagen and elastin framework. This can occur with pregnancy, with puberty, at the time of rapid weight gain and under the influence of the hormone cortisol even without weight gain. In the stretch mark the superficial skin layer overlying the dermal scar, the epidermis, is thinned.

Treatments such as microdermabrasion and retinols target the epidermis but not the dermis. Vascular lasers help red or pink discoloration but do not correct the dermal damage. Until now it has been very difficult to treat stretch marks effectively.

Carboxytherapy minimizes stretch marks by targeting the dermis. This technique increases the blood flow to these poorly vascularized areas. Collagen production is enhanced. With successive treatments they contract and constrict becoming narrower, shorter and less visible.

Doctor Zaniewski-Singh states that her patients are excited by the skin rejuvenation they see with Carboxytherapy for stretch marks, scars, and dark circles under their eyes.

Doctor Zaniewski-Singh has been selected as one of Houston’s TopDocs in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 by HTexas magazine. She was selected for Profiles in Healthcare Distinction by Houston Modern Luxury Magazine in 2007.
