Sebastian Professional Whats Next Challenge First Ever Global Online Contest for Creative Minds
With the slogan “Glory waits for no one,” the salon hair care brand Sebastian Professional challenges all artists to submit their most creative, original work to its new online-based global competition, What’s Next Challenge, for a chance to experience New York Fashion Week.
From July 2011 through November 2011, hair stylists and fashion-forward artists from all over the world can visit www.whatsnextchallenge.com to put their talent to the ultimate test. Entrants will need to submit a photo of their unique representation of this year’s theme, “Cosmic Infinity”. Inspired by the infinite styling possibilities of Sebastian’s ultra-versatile Potion 9 and Shaper families, Cosmic Infinity represents a place where possibilities are endless, hair has no limitations and styling, no reservations.
“Since 2009, Sebastian Professional has been conducting the What’s Next Awards to give stylists in North America a creative outlet that affords them national coverage. With the global launch of the What’s Next Challenge, we’re taking the competition to the next level by also giving other artists outside of hair styling a way to express themselves and show off their unique talents,” says Reuben Carranza, CEO, P&G Salon Professional North America. “With the What’s Next Challenge, we are creating a platform that enables even more artists around the world to showcase their work and be a part of what’s next.”
All hair stylist and artistic talent entries will be judged by consumer votes and Sebastian’s expert judging panel of noteworthy individuals including Sebastian style-visionaries like DJ Harley Viera-Newton. The top 20 finalists who make the cut will compete at a live event in Berlin, Germany on January 15, 2012 where the two most fearless style visionaries (one hair stylist winner and one artistic talent winner) will take home the grand prize of tickets to New York Fashion Week.
ARTISTIC TALENT COMPETITION DETAILS
Beginning July 1, 2011, Sebastian Professional encourages all artists, fashion-forward individuals and other creative forces looking for their moment in the spotlight to upload photos of artistic creations of their own design that they feel best embodies the theme of Cosmic Infinity to www.whatsnextchallenge.com. The entries will be judged by the Sebastian expert judging panel and by fellow creative minds and peers visiting the Challenge website to vote for their favorite entries. Voting closes on November 30, 2011, at which point the top five Sebastian judges’ picks and top five fan favorites move on to the final round of competition in Berlin.
At the live event in Berlin, the 10 artistic talent finalists will face off in a series of interviews about their talent and inspiration. The artistic talent finalist who best expresses their point of view and embodies Sebastian’s edgy spirit will win the grand prize: an invitation to experience the creativity and excitement of New York Fashion Week in February 2012.
HAIR STYLIST COMPETITION DETAILS
To enter the What’s Next Challenge, hair stylists post photos showcasing their most fearless hair creations that represent the Cosmic Infinity theme to www.whatsnextchallenge.com. The entries will be judged by the Sebastian expert judging panel and the Challenge website visitors to select the five judges’ finalists and the five fan favorites to move on to the final creative battle on stage in a live hair show in Berlin on January 15, 2012.
“The Sebastian What’s Next Challenge is unique because it’s a creative soundboard for both hair stylists and other artists,” says Thomas Dunkin, Sebastian Professional Stylist Design Team Member. “This is exactly the type of platform people are craving to showcase their work, gain exposure and solicit feedback. It also allows us to learn what’s relevant and inspiring to today’s style influencers across the globe.”
The Sebastian expert judging panel will judge the 10 hair stylist finalists on-site at the live event on their artistic design and quality. The grand prize hair stylist winner will win a trip to New York Fashion Week to style alongside world-renowned stylists as part of Sebastian’s stylist team in February 2012.
All other Sebastian fans have the chance to take an active part in the decision of what’s next too. By “liking” a photo entry, online voters increase entrants’ chance of winning one of the 10 fan favorite finalist spots. In November 2011, Sebastian will select the consumer grand prize winner via random raffle. Therefore, the more online visitors vote their likelihood of winning the consumer grand prize increases. Sebastian will send the grand prize winner to January’s live event in Berlin to experience the action firsthand.
