Kspin Designs and Writer Chris Gay Produce a Children’s Skin Cancer Prevention Book
The books focus will be to entertainingly teach kids the importance of skin cancer prevention. KSpin was founded on the dual premises of providing children with high quality garments and early instruction on preventing and Melanoma. The former does wonders for self esteem; the latter could potentially save lives.
As a former model diagnosed with melanoma at 27, KSpin founder Kerry Spindler has a personal interest in getting her company’s message across. Chris Gay lost a sister at 15 to a heart defect. He was inspired by Spindler’s tireless work ethic and relentless efforts to chop away at this disease until it comes tumbling down. “Writing for Kerry’s cause has been unbelievably gratifying,” Gay said. “Knowing that every dollar you help bring in could be the dollar that helps save someone is tremendously motivating.”
Chris Gay is a freelance writer/voice-over artist/broadcaster from Connecticut. He has written two humor books, And That’s the Way It Was…Give or Take: A Daily Dose of My Radio Writings and the upcoming second edition of Shouldn’t Ice Cold Beer Be Frozen? My 365 Random Thoughts To Improve Your Life Not One Iota. He writes and broadcasts a daily, sponsored historical comedy minute on the radio in Hartford. He’s written and voiced radio commercials, freelance articles, a TV script, and had a humor piece published in Writer’s Digest. Gay’s done radio color commentary for local sports and acted. Recently he finished writing Ghost of a Chance, a not-yet-published theological, supernatural crime thriller.
The duo looks forward to combining their talents to educate children and parents on the importance of skin cancer awareness. “There are far too many people in their late teens and early twenties facing fatal outcomes due to lack of education early in their lives,” Spindler said. “To put a message out to children that celebrates ’sunless beauty’ is important to me and Chris equally. Chris has been instrumental in making our message clear. I admit that since going through my own challenges at a young age, it can be emotionally driven at times. Working with Chris provides a terrific balance of words.”
