Makeup Tips for Girls Who Wear Glasses
Do you love to wear makeup, but feel as though your glasses get in the way? If so, you have come to the right place. By understanding how your lenses magnify your eyes, you can know how to apply your makeup so that your eyes can look their best underneath the frame.
The first thing you need to know is your prescription. If you are far-sighted, your lenses will magnify the eye unnaturally, flaws included. If you are near-sighted, and especially if you have a strong prescription, your eyes will look smaller underneath the lenses. Once you know how your lenses are reflecting your eyes, you can start to use the following tips to make your eyes look spectacular!
Concealer
After cleansing and moisturizing, it is time for a concealing product. Concealer should be a little bit lighter than your usual shade, dotted and blended over flaws. There are many types of concealer – sticks, creams, and powders. Choose a product that won’t rub off, or get smudged by the rim of your glasses. Experiment with application techniques and products to find the ones you like best. For dark circles, use a narrow brush to get the concealer exactly where you want it. Apply a foundation all over and on the eyelids to create a canvas for your colors.

Eye Shadow and Liner
Next, apply from your palette of eyelid colors. The range of shades is endless, so choose colors you like and that enhance your natural coloring. If you are near-sighted, lighter colors can help to enlarge the eye’s appearance. The opposite is true for those who are far-sighted: darker, more dramatic colors will reduce the apparent size.
Once you have chosen your color palette, dot the white shade on the eyeball area, the middle of the lid, from the lash line to the crease. This opens the eye and makes it appear more alert. Blend that lightest color out to the edges, but be sure not to lose the lightening effect on the center of the lid. This is an artistic principle – light brings objects forward. Then, with the medium color, whether it is brown or purple, define your eyelid crease. With the darkest color, darken the outer portion of the lid. Most of the artistry of makeup is in the blending of colors around the eye, so be patient and thorough.
The highlighter goes just under the eyebrow, and the brow itself is brushed upward, well shaped and colored.
The main difference between lining your eyes for glasses has to do with whether a line is made on top and/or bottom lid. It is best to leave the bottom lid alone if you are farsighted, and to line both lids if you are nearsighted. In the one case, eye size is minimized, in the other it is enhanced. Softly colored eyeliner to complement your eye color might be better than black, when making up for the heavier, more dramatic black glasses. A white line on the lower waterline can help make near-sighted eyes look bigger.
Practice. Be patient. Notice what looks you like, study pictures, or just ask someone how she achieved that effect. There is no single way to do makeup. But with these simple tips, you will have a good framework to start with.
