Paul Mitchell Schools Provide Low Cost Haircuts and Donate Hair Clippings

Posted by Sandy
April 15, 2009

Paul Mitchell SchoolIn celebration of Earth Week 2009, Paul Mitchell schools will cut hair for a cause — consumers can visit any Paul Mitchell school from April 20-24 to receive a $10-15 haircut and the schools will donate the hair clippings to Matter of Trust — an organization that creates absorbent hair mats to soak up oil spills across the country.

Paul Mitchell believes in maintaining a healthy planet — the brand donates a portion of Tea Tree proceeds to American Forests Global ReLeaf and Wildfire ReLeaf programs to preserve natural resources at home and abroad. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree also funds the planting of enough trees through American Forests to offset all carbon emissions from the brand’s manufacture and distribution.

Commitment to philanthropic involvement is the norm for the 29-year-old company of professional hair products and its school network. “Paul Mitchell schools believe giving back is not just a once-a-year happening; it is our daily duty,” says Paul Mitchell The School Dean, Winn Claybaugh.

The collective efforts of almost 100 Paul Mitchell schools nationwide raised nearly $1 million in 2008 alone on behalf of organizations like the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, which provides funding for lifesaving treatment for individuals who are otherwise unable to receive treatment they desperately need, as well as the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, which provides vital education and empowerment to a growing population of family caregivers, and resources for those newly diagnosed with chronic illnesses through community-centered, Leeza’s Place locations.

At Paul Mitchell schools, the teaching style is unique. Staff members believe education is an adventure and the learning experience should be fun. The culture within every Paul Mitchell School campus inspires confidence and success. Each of the almost 100 Paul Mitchell Schools is a learning community that provides Future Professionals with opportunities to develop essential skills while exploring their talents, passion, and creativity. Paul Mitchell school instructors — called “learning leaders” — are trained to draw out the artist in every student and prepare them to compete in the world. Rather than concentrate only on basic training needed to pass state licensing board exams, Paul Mitchell schools provide a well-rounded lifestyle education. This is the first time that I’ve heard of Paul Mitchell schools and from what you’ve posted they sound really dedicated and inventive. I’m gonna check their official site for more info as I’d like to enroll.
