ProbioticBuilding upon recent breakthroughs in scientific research, Dr. Lisa Hynes, one of the country’s leading dermatologists, led a team of chemists and researchers in developing SK1N Probiotic Systems’ unprecedented skincare line to highlight the benefits of probiotics, prebiotics and other natural ingredients known to fight against most common skin disorders.

“Many people find it difficult to dedicate time in today’s busy lifestyle to a regular skincare routine,” Dr. Hynes said. “Probiotics are a shield against the daily effects of environmental stress our skin is exposed to, and we have developed a straightforward system which offers users measurable results for all skin types.”

Consumers, more aware of science-based formulations, today evaluate and purchase products based on quality with a strong expectation of functional benefits from those products, not just a pleasing fragrance or attractive packaging. Probiotics used topically on the skin have been found to provide competitive protection against harmful bacteria which creates skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, rosacea, millia, rashes and dermatitis.

“When the skin is out of balance there is a destruction of the skin barrier which leads to greater dispersion of foreign substances such as harmful bacteria,” Dr. Hynes said. “Probiotics have been shown to have a significant effect short term by reducing inflammation and infections; and, long term, have been shown to deter premature formation of wrinkles.”

While they have been used for thousands of years, recent discoveries have led to a deeper understanding of the possibilities probiotics hold. It is no surprise they have become all the rage in foods and drinks, but only today are the dramatic benefits of topical applications being fully uncovered.

In fact, probiotics are so effective that many hospitals have gone from relying on antiseptic soap-scrubbing to washing with probiotic products and studies have suggested using probiotics on patients’ wounds prior to surgery. The safety of probiotics–essentially good bacteria that every person’s body needs both internally and externally–is so convincing that they are being used in everything from baby food to pizza crust to toothpaste, not just in yogurt.

The increasing importance of probiotics in skincare has been confirmed by Mintel Cosmetic Research, which has identified probiotics as among the hottest beauty ingredient trends for 2009. “Food and beauty will become increasingly intertwined, as more good-for-you food ingredients–think green tea and probiotics–are incorporated into skin care and cosmetic products,” the research organization found.

Similarly, probiotics this week made Pierce Mattie PR’s list of Top 10 Ingredient Trends, with the organization saying they have gone from buzz to branded as another “‘clinical-like’ line of products.”

Many of the major beauty product manufacturers are now jumping on the probiotics bandwagon, while SK1N has been at the forefront of this new emergence in skincare. With its simple, easy-to-use line of products that focuses on the essentials, encouraging people to make time to take care of the

As Gary Huffnagle, immunologist at the University of Michigan and author of The Probiotics Revolution, said, ” Probiotics is not a fad. It’s a new scientific concept about how the body works.”

I actually tried your products this week and have to thank you for finally bringing a product line that DELIVERS! I’ve spent a fortune on skin care products and none ever seemed to work- OR they actually made my skin worse. I have had so many compliments about how natural my skin looks since I began using Sk1n probitics. Thank you!

Words can not describe how amazing this product is! THANK YOU! I am sure you here this from everyone. I know it sounds goofy, but buying a product that does what it promises has made me more optimistic about life in general. Thank God for a SIMPLE PRODUCT THAT WORKS!!! I have been receiving compliments almost every day since the first day I started using it. Oh, and I have told both guy and girl friends about it and they (the guys included) are are all amazed and excited about this incredible product!

Did I mention I think Sk1n Probiotic Day Cream, eye cream, and serum are the best in the world?

I starting using the serum today and find it very drying as if it is sucking all the moisture from my skin. My first impression is that it cannot be used alone but must be followed by a some kind of hydrator or moisturizer.

I agree, since using sk1n probiotics, my skin looks much fresher and it just plain feels healthier! Personally, the sk1n serum is my favorite product. I read it somewhere on line to use it as a lip treatment for chapped or dry lips- I did and even my lipstick goes on smoother. I had no experience whatsoever with the serum making my skin dry-in fact, what I love most about it is that it is water based and not oily. I was in Costco and they gave me some of that borghese serum to try and it felt like petroleum and was much to smelly for me. So often when I’m in there I look at the labels and am shocked that even though the packaging is very nice, there are ingredients like parabans, UREA, and propylene glycol or very high up on the ingredient list– fragrance. Fragrance just seems to be something that causes me to get all red if its in my makeup, skin care or too heavy in my shampoo products. As for the Borghese serum, I looked at the ingredients and it was full of wax and silicone. The woman tried to convince me that it was super moisturizing but in my mind, anything can feel soft with petroleum jelly but who wants to goop that on your face- it just has to be unhealthy and clog the pores. I do know that I experienced dry skin last winter and I had used every moisturizer I had and then some- turned out when I had a facial, the facialist told me that I needed to exfoliate because no matter what I put on my skin it would feel dry. I had the best facial and she was absolutely right! After the microdermabrasion treatment, she was the one that turned my onto SK1N probiotic systems because she told me that the sk1n serum was the only thing she used after that type of treatment because it did not burn and it took the redness away.

All in all, I find that the SK1N probiotic products are easy to use and a very nice everyday skin care line with high quality ingredients at an affordable price.
