Back to School Beauty Tips with Celebrity Hairstylist & Beauty Expert Billy Lowe
With summertime coming to a close and department stores announcing their Back-to-School specials, Billy Lowe shares quick and easy tips and techniques for making your beauty routines a cinch.
1. Allow a little extra time for yourself. Rather than racing out the door feeling unkempt or worried about those fly-aways, give yourself that extra 5 or 10 minutes in the morning to calm your frayed ends (and your nerves) before racing out. You’ll look better, you’ll feel better, and you won’t be as distracted by mis-managed hair or poorly applied make-up.
2. Save time when you blow-dry. Before using brushes to blow-dry or style, remove 80-90% of the moisture from hair first by loosely blow-drying (high heat, medium speed). Hair doesn’t begin taking shape until it reaches the 80-90% dry stages. Just as we don’t iron wet clothing, we don’t shape wet hair. This will speed up your drying & styling time by at least 5-10 minutes.

4. When considering a haircut for Back-to-School, think about more than just your face shape. Too many hairstylists focus on face shapes rather than focusing on client needs. A haircut may be perfect for one’s face shape, but if the client can’t duplicate the style at home, then she’ll become frustrated with the cut and won’t take care of it. The ending result is that she won’t like the cut and she won’t feel good about herself.
5. Quick and easy make-up in 1, 3 or 5 minutes. For 1 minute make-up, apply a mascara & lip gloss. For 3 minute make-up, add blush and a little powder. For 5 minute make-up, finish off with definition to the lips and eyes, and begin with a concealer or foundation in desired areas.
