Sunscreen Your Summer Secret Weapon

Posted by Sandy
June 19, 2008

Many women look for the different trends that come out in fashion, but there is one “trend” during the summer that can have you looking younger and can protect your health: sunscreen. It is no surprise that the sun’s rays now are much stronger than they were when we were children. It is critical that we all wear sunscreen to protect ourselves.

It can be so easy to say, “I don’t have time” and to not put on sunscreen. However, sunscreen only takes a moment to put on and offers you so many benefits. If you look at a woman who has been wearing sunscreen ten years from now, and a woman who has not — the woman who wears sunscreen will easily look much younger. She’ll have less tiny lines on her face. Her skin will have less damage to it. It is unfortunate, but our bright sun does cause more damage today. Take the time to protect yourself. You’ll be very pleased with the results as time goes on.

Fortunately many products are making it easier to wear sunscreen. Many of women’s cosmetics already include sunscreen (read the label or check the packaging). You’ll see more sunscreen-related products available during the summer, so if you are planning on taking a cruise during the winter try and stock up on some during this time. Most women already put on their makeup during the day, so this is not an inconvenience. Some moisturizers are including it as part of their formula, so this means you are also putting it onto your face.

The latest innovation with sunscreen is the sunscreens that spray onto your body. This means that sunscreen goes onto your body lightly and quickly. No more do you have to worry about rubbing the sunscreen in. You just spray it on and go! This is so convenient. There are many brands that offer this spray sunscreen you can put on your body. It is important to not just put sunscreen on your face, but also on your body as well.

Many women are also finding it stylish to wear bronzing powder instead of actually sitting out and getting a tan. By brushing on some bronzing powder, you get all of the benefits of a nice glow without any of the negatives. It is very convenient to wear your tan and put it on whenever you wish. This also means you could easily be tan any day you wish: including a rainy day in February!

While women today are considering sunscreen additional, it is certain that the next generation of women will consider sunscreen an absolute necessary. The need to use sunscreen everyday is critical. It is clear that this is the “must have” skin care product every woman will want to have this summer — and for many summers to come.

One thing you can do to ensure that your skin is protected is to limit your time in the sun. We all know about the harmful effects of UV rays and skin cancer, but the sun has a drying effect on your skin as well. This can age you faster, and make you look older than you really are. Use a big beach umbrella at the very least to keep your skin from baking in the sun and drying out.

Applying a cream or lotion before and after your time in the sun keeps your skin healthy and moisturized. Make sure that it’s a non-comedogenic cream so that your pores will not become clogged. Shea Butter is a great option for this, as it contains natural sunscreen, and is great for keeping your skin healthy and moisturized. It also doesn’t come off like regular creams and lotions because it’s a richer texture and forms a barrier on your skin without feeling greasy. Along with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits, it is amazing for those sunburns you might get.

[…] “One in five Americans are found to have skin cancer in their lifetime. While that number is epidemic, what is more epidemic is the fact that only one in five people wear sunscreen on a daily basis, even though 94 percent of them know that continued exposure to the sun can potentially cause cancer*,” said healthy skin expert Celeste Hilling, founder of Skin Authority. “The numbers don’t lie; they support the fact that safe sun should be practiced by the whole family.” […]
