New Facial Sunscreen Aimed at Teenage Skin by Two Moms

There’s a brand new kid on the block - the sunscreen block. Moms Lori Nauman and Heather Neal have long been on the prowl for a good facial sunscreen for their kids. After finding products that were greasy, irritating, smelly and goopy, they decided to formulate one of their own.

Introducing Screen, Inc.: a company that focuses on sunscreens made exclusively for the neck, up. With vibrant graphics and amusing text, their goal is to make sunscreen fun. Using the motto, Screen: Make It Your Routine, the company advocates using facial sunscreen every day before leaving the house. “Just like you wash your hair and brush your teeth, you should take care of your skin,” says Heather Neal. “We look at facial sunscreen as an important daily hygiene product along with shampoo and toothpaste.”

Dermatologist Dianne Kamenetsky, M.D. agrees. “The simple act of applying facial sunscreen each day can prevent sun damage, premature aging and skin cancer.”

Teen Screen was the inspiration behind their Daily Facial Sunburn Protection line. During product development, Screen, Inc.’s priority was to formulate a sunscreen that didn’t feel like a sunscreen. “It’s especially great for teenagers dealing with acne,” says Screen, Inc. founder Lori Nauman. “Most kids won’t put anything greasy on their face and would prefer to dry up their blemishes in the sun. In actuality, that could do more harm in the long run, not only with sun damage but with acne scarring.” Although thick in texture, Teen Screen absorbs quickly leaving a matte finish - not a greasy, irritating residue. The unique recipe also includes exotic ingredients such as Japanese green tea extracts and soothing avocado.

The collection also includes Man Screen, Chic Screen and Tweeny Screen. Two Lip Screens are also in the works - they will contain an unprecedented amount of zinc oxide (15%) and will serve as powerful lip protection while out in intense sun. All products have earned the Skin Cancer Foundation’s coveted Seal of Recommendation which endorse Screen, Inc. products as effective UV sunscreens.

Along with providing a superior facial sunscreen, Screen, Inc. is passionate about educating consumers about sunscreen facts vs. fiction. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced a new proposal for the formulation and labeling of sunscreen. While other companies might be scrambling, Screen, Inc. enters the marketplace with all future guidelines already in place.

An example is the common misconception with the Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Screen, Inc.’s patented blends contain an SPF of 16+. Other products that promote a higher SPF simply contain additional 3-5% coverage. That mere 3-5% often comes with consequences - the higher the SPF, the higher the chemical content, potentially increasing the risk of skin irritation. Since facial skin is more delicate than the resilient skin found on other areas of the body, Screen, Inc.’s formulas are a precise combination of topical sun-reflecting minerals and skin-absorbing chemicals. At an SPF level of 16+, it contains the minimal level of chemicals, yet provides excellent protection.

Screen, Inc. did not cut corners on studies; its products have been rigorously tested for SPF, UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection, contact irritation and photo toxicity. No tests were conducted on animals and all formulas are made in the USA. “Screen, Inc. is one of my leading customers that have conducted all the possible safety studies,” says Gurpreet Sangha, CEO of G.S. Cosmeceutical, a leader in the cosmeceutical sector.
